World-class ballet, opera, concerts, and musicals in a stunning dhow-shaped venue beside the Burj Khalifa. Tickets from AED 100. Guided tours from AED 65.
Dubai Opera opened in August 2016 as the first dedicated performing arts venue in Dubai, located on the northern edge of the Burj Khalifa district in Downtown Dubai. The building was designed by Atkins Global and takes the form of a traditional wooden dhow - a vessel central to Dubai's maritime heritage - rotated to stand upright. The result is a building that is as visually striking as the performances held inside it. The horseshoe-shaped auditorium seats 2,000 people and uses a remarkable fly tower system to transform the space between a full theatre, a concert hall, and a flat-floor multi-purpose event venue, making it one of the most versatile performance spaces in the world.
Full-scale grand opera productions from leading international companies. Performs both in original language with subtitles and in English translation depending on the production.
Classical ballet from the world's premier companies including Bolshoi Ballet on tour, English National Ballet, and regional productions by the Dubai Opera Ballet Company.
Full symphony orchestra performances, chamber music, and solo recitals featuring international soloists and conductors. Includes Arabic classical music evenings.

Can I visit Dubai Opera without attending a performance?
Yes. Guided tours of the building are available for AED 65 per person on most non-performance days. Additionally, the ground floor foyer hosts free events open to the public before many performances. The Dubai Opera terrace and Opera Boulevard are publicly accessible and offer excellent views of the Burj Khalifa. The box office and gift shop are open from 10am to 10pm daily.
What is the dress code for Dubai Opera?
Smart casual is the minimum. For opera, ballet, and classical concerts most attendees wear smart to semi-formal attire. Broadway musicals and pop concerts allow more casual dress. Shorts, beachwear, and sportswear are not appropriate. There is no strict enforcement policy but the venue has a clearly upscale atmosphere that most visitors naturally dress to match.
Where can I check the Dubai Opera schedule?
The complete performance schedule is available at dubaioperahouse.org. Alternatively, SheikhWays stays up to date with the Dubai Opera programme and can advise on upcoming highlights and availability based on your visit dates. The season runs September through June with lighter summer programming.
How much do Dubai Opera tickets cost?
Ticket prices start at approximately AED 100 for standard seats at less popular performances and reach AED 1,500 or more for premium boxes at headline events. Most opera and ballet performances range between AED 200 and AED 800 depending on seat category. Broadway musicals typically run AED 150-600. Pop concerts vary greatly by artist.
Is Dubai Opera suitable for children?
It depends on the performance. Matinee performances of family-friendly ballets such as The Nutcracker and Broadway musicals such as The Lion King (when on tour) are suitable and popular with children. Standard opera performances can be long and demanding for young children. Guided tours of the building are suitable for older children with an interest in architecture and performing arts.
