AED 799 -- fly from 1,680 metres above sea level at up to 120 km/h
You are lying flat, face down, harnessed to a cable at 1,680 metres above sea level, staring at a valley that drops away for nearly three kilometres. The Hajar Mountains stretch east into Oman. The Arabian Gulf is a blue smear on the horizon. Then the staff say go, and the world becomes wind, speed, and limestone ridges blurring past at 120 km/h. The Jebel Jais zipline holds the Guinness World Record as the longest on Earth at 2.83 kilometres, and the two minutes it takes to complete it are the kind you talk about for years. This guide covers everything you need before you book: the AED 799 price, weight and age limits, morning timing tips, and what to expect from check-in to the return shuttle.
The experience itself lasts approximately two minutes -- which sounds brief until you are harnessed in and staring at a 1,680-metre drop across a landscape of bare limestone peaks and ancient wadis. Riders reach speeds of up to 120 kilometres per hour in the steeper sections and travel in a horizontal, Superman-style position with the harness supporting the full length of the body rather than just the waist.
The view from the cable is remarkable. On clear days you can see across the Hajar Mountains into Oman to the east, and on the western horizon the Arabian Gulf coastline appears as a thin blue line. The mountain landscape below is entirely uninhabited at this altitude -- no roads, no buildings, just rock formations carved over millions of years.
Jais Flight was certified by Guinness World Records as the world's longest zipline upon opening. At 2.83 kilometres, it surpasses the previous record holder in Puerto Rico by a significant margin. The record has been maintained since 2018.
Booking in advance is strongly recommended and essentially mandatory on weekends and during the peak October to April season. The official booking platform is jaisadventure.com, operated by the Ras Al Khaimah Tourism Development Authority.

Online booking through jaisadventure.com is the recommended approach. The website allows you to select specific time slots, which matters because the number of participants per session is limited. Walk-in booking is possible on quieter weekdays but weekend slots are frequently fully reserved.
After arriving at the Jais Rest Stop near the summit viewpoint, participants check in and receive their safety briefing. Staff are professional and multilingual -- English and Arabic are standard, with Hindi commonly spoken as well. The briefing covers the harness system, body position during flight, and the landing procedure.
The shuttle then takes participants to the launch platform, which sits at 1,680 metres. The platform itself is a steel structure built into the mountain face with clear views down the cable run. The anticipation at this point is significant -- you can see the full length of the cable disappearing into the valley far below.
Staff attach the harness to the cable system and the launch is assisted -- you do not need to jump. The initial acceleration is steep and immediate, reaching high speed within the first few seconds. The horizontal body position (face down, body parallel to the ground) provides the best view and is the standard position used.
The landing platform is in the valley, where a transport vehicle collects participants and returns them to the Jais Rest Stop. The entire process from check-in to return takes approximately 90 minutes to 2 hours.
Morning slots between 8am and 11am give the clearest mountain views. Afternoon slots can have cloud cover building up around the peaks. Weekday bookings are easier to secure than weekends. October through April offers the most comfortable temperatures.
Closed-toe shoes are mandatory -- bring trainers or hiking shoes. Wear fitted clothing rather than loose layers. A light jacket is recommended even in summer as the mountain is 10-15 degrees cooler than Dubai and the wind chill during the flight is significant.
Loose items including hats, jewellery, scarves, and glasses not secured with a strap must be stored before the flight. Phones and cameras can be brought if properly secured to your body -- the operator provides a clip system. Do not rely on handheld photography during the flight.
The Jais Adventures facilities are located near the summit of Jebel Jais mountain in Ras Al Khaimah, approximately 1.5 to 2 hours from Dubai by car. There is no public transport to the mountain, so a private vehicle or tour arrangement is necessary.
From Dubai, take Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Road (E311) north past Sharjah and continue towards Ras Al Khaimah. Follow signs for Jebel Jais once in RAK emirate. The mountain road from the base to the summit area takes approximately 35-40 minutes. Parking is available at the Jais Rest Stop near the main facilities.
| From | Distance | Drive Time | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Dubai (Downtown) | ~130 km | 1.5-2 hours | Via E311, then mountain road |
| Dubai (Marina) | ~145 km | 1.5-2 hours | Via E11 then E311 |
| Sharjah | ~105 km | 1-1.5 hours | Via E311 |
| RAK City | ~35 km | 40-50 minutes | Mountain road only |
| Abu Dhabi | ~230 km | 2.5-3 hours | Not recommended as day trip |
Jebel Jais is worth a full day, not just the zipline. After your flight, the summit viewpoint is free to access and provides spectacular panoramic views across the Hajar Mountains. Hiking trails start near the Jais Rest Stop and range from a short 1-kilometre family walk to full-day routes.
The Jais Sledder (toboggan) at AED 100-170 is suitable for families with children as young as 3 and provides a different style of mountain excitement. The Jais Sky Frame swing and Rope Course round out a full adventure day at a reasonable total cost.
Jais Flight costs AED 799 per person and slots fill quickly. Book online to secure your preferred time slot, especially for weekends and public holidays.
