Visa required. Nigerian citizens must apply in advance — but those with a valid US, UK, or EU visa may qualify for visa on arrival.
The UAE visa process for Nigerian citizens requires careful preparation. Follow these steps and leave adequate time before your travel date.
If you do not have a valid yellow fever vaccination certificate, get vaccinated and obtain your International Certificate of Vaccination (yellow card) before anything else. This is a hard requirement — without it your application will be rejected.
Collect every document listed below. Nigerian applications are scrutinised carefully. An incomplete or inconsistent application is a common cause of rejection or delay.
Download and fill the UAE tourist visa application form in full. Available from the UAE Embassy or authorised travel agents. All information must match your passport exactly.
Confirmed return flight and hotel bookings are required. These can be tentative bookings — but they must show your intended travel and accommodation dates clearly.
Submit in person or through an authorised visa agent. Pay the visa fee at submission. Keep your payment receipt.
Processing typically takes 5 to 10 working days. Do not book non-refundable flights until your visa is approved. Apply at least 3 to 4 weeks before travel.
Collect your stamped passport or e-visa. Print any e-visa documents and carry them alongside your passport. Present these at Dubai Immigration on arrival.
Nigerian citizens who hold a valid, unexpired visa from the United States, United Kingdom, European Union, or Canada may qualify for a UAE visa on arrival, regardless of their passport. This is a separate facility provided at the discretion of UAE immigration. If this applies to you, carry your valid US/UK/EU/Canadian visa clearly accessible in your passport.
