Home to Formula Rossa - the world's fastest roller coaster at 240 kilometres per hour
Ferrari World Abu Dhabi is the world's largest indoor theme park by total area, covered by a distinctive red roof shaped like the iconic double-curve of the Ferrari GT body profile. Opened in 2010 on Yas Island, the park celebrates Ferrari's century of motorsport heritage through over 40 rides, attractions, and experiences ranging from the world's fastest roller coaster to immersive racing simulators, live shows, and family-friendly entertainment.
The park operates entirely indoors, making it a year-round attraction immune to Abu Dhabi's summer heat. Air conditioning maintains comfortable temperatures throughout, though light layers are advisable for those sensitive to cold as the vast interior can feel cool, particularly in ride queuing areas. The park spans multiple themed zones including a dedicated children's area, an Italian street scene, and the heart-stopping thrill zone housing Formula Rossa.
Ferrari World Abu Dhabi is open daily from 11:00am to 8:00pm. Last entry is at 7:00pm. Hours may be extended during UAE public holidays and school holiday periods. Verify current hours on the official Ferrari World website before travel.
With over 40 attractions across the park, knowing which rides to prioritise ensures you make the most of your visit. The following attractions are consistently rated as essential experiences by visitors.
The world's fastest roller coaster, accelerating from 0 to 240 kilometres per hour in 4.9 seconds using a hydraulic launch system derived from aircraft carrier catapult technology. Riders wear goggles. Minimum height 140cm. Queue forms before the park opens daily.
The world's tallest loop roller coaster at 63 metres. Themed around Italy's World War I flying ace Francesco Baracca, who inspired the Ferrari prancing horse logo. Launches from 0 to 120 kph. Minimum height 130cm.
A vertical launch coaster that shoots riders through the roof of the building in a near-vertical climb before inverting and returning to earth. Delivers views across Yas Island at the apex. Minimum height 140cm.
A twin-track racing coaster where two cars compete side by side around the track. Riders choose red or yellow Ferrari and watch their car race the other through banked turns and dips. Minimum height 120cm.
A 4D dark ride taking guests through the history of Ferrari in motorsport, from the early road cars through to Formula 1 dominance. A seated, motion-based experience suitable for most ages. Minimum height 105cm.
Younger children can drive their own Ferrari on a guided track circuit. One of the park's most beloved family experiences, with children in full control of a miniature Ferrari around a purpose-built track. Ages 3-8.
Formula Rossa is the single biggest draw at Ferrari World and the queue grows rapidly after the park opens. Arriving before 11am to be among the first through the gates and heading directly to Formula Rossa as your first ride of the day is strongly recommended. Wait times of over 90 minutes are common from midday onwards on busy days.
The park also operates a Virtual Queue system through the Ferrari World app on select days, allowing you to book a timeslot for Formula Rossa without waiting in the physical line. Download the app before your visit and check whether Virtual Queue is active on your date.
Minimum height is 140cm. Guests with neck, back, or heart conditions should not ride. Loose items including sunglasses, jewellery, hats, and phones are not permitted and must be stored in complimentary lockers adjacent to the ride. Goggles provided free to all riders.
The park has multiple restaurants and cafes ranging from the full-service Mamma Rossella Italian restaurant to casual dining options and a food court. All dining is halal. Prices are theme park level. Sealed beverages from outside are generally permitted.
Despite its reputation as a thrill park, Ferrari World has a substantial and thoughtfully designed children's area called Benno's Great Race. This section of the park is dedicated to families with young children aged approximately 3 to 10, with smaller versions of adult rides, a dedicated children's driving track, interactive play structures, and character meet experiences. Stroller parking is provided throughout this area.
It is worth setting expectations with older children before the visit - some of the most exciting rides have height minimums of 130cm or 140cm, which may exclude children under 10 or 11. The Flying Aces simulation ride (not the coaster) and Junior GT driving track are accessible from a young age and are consistently among the most enjoyable experiences for families with children who do not meet thrill ride height requirements.
Ferrari World is significantly better suited for teenagers and adults with a strong interest in speed and motorsport. Families travelling with children predominantly under 8 may find Warner Bros. World a more comprehensively enjoyable day, unless the children specifically want to see Formula Rossa and the Ferrari brand experience.
Yes. At 240 kilometres per hour, Formula Rossa holds the Guinness World Record for fastest roller coaster. The launch lasts approximately 5 seconds and the G-force experienced is comparable to an F1 car accelerating out of a pit lane. Riders must wear provided goggles throughout.
Gate tickets are available but online prices are lower. During peak periods including UAE school holidays and weekends, pre-purchasing online is strongly recommended as the park can reach capacity and gate sales may be suspended. Multi-park passes combining Ferrari World with other Yas parks offer the best per-park value.
Ferrari World is an indoor park and has no specific dress code beyond standard UAE modesty guidelines. Comfortable athletic clothing and closed-toe shoes are recommended for thrill rides. Flip flops are not permitted on most rides. Swimwear is not appropriate in the park.
Budget a full day of 7 to 8 hours to experience the park comprehensively including thrill rides, family attractions, dining, and shows. Those focusing exclusively on the top thrill rides could complete the key coasters in 4 to 5 hours, though queues on busy days extend this significantly.
