One Week in Dubai in Winter: A 7-Day Outdoor Plan
One week in Dubai in winter should be spent mostly outdoors: two beach days, a day in the Hajar Mountains at Hatta, a night or evening in the desert, a walking day in old Dubai and an evening at Global Village. Between November and March, average daytime highs sit between about 24 and 31 degrees Celsius and the sea stays around 22 to 28 degrees, which is why the seasonal attractions and most big events happen now. The plan below is built for those months, with the 2026 to 2027 dates checked in September 2026.
Dubai winter weather, month by month
Winter is short and the difference between November and January is bigger than most visitors expect. These are long-term averages for Dubai International Airport (Dubai Meteorological Office and WMO 1991 to 2020 normals) plus typical sea temperatures.
| Month | Average high | Average low | Sea | What it means for your week |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| November | 31°C | 21°C | 28°C | Still hot at midday; the warmest sea of the season |
| December | 27°C | 18°C | 25°C | Ideal beach and desert weather; busiest and priciest around Christmas and New Year |
| January | 24°C | 16°C | 22°C | Coolest month; bring a layer for evenings and the desert |
| February | 27°C | 17°C | 22°C | Warm days, fresh sea; Ramadan expected from around 8 February 2027 |
| March | 30°C | 20°C | 23°C | Warming up; outdoor attractions still open |
Winter is also when Dubai gets most of its rain, usually a handful of short, heavy showers. Keep one day of the week flexible. For a longer read on the season, see our Dubai in winter guide.

Your 7-day winter itinerary
The order groups nearby places together and puts the long days (Hatta and the desert) apart so you are not tired two days running. Swap days around the events you want to catch.
Day 1: Arrive, then Downtown in the open air
Winter evenings are the best time to be outside in Downtown. Walk around the Burj Khalifa lake after sunset and watch the Dubai Fountain, which normally runs every 30 minutes from 6pm to 11pm. The Red Line runs from Airport Terminals 1 and 3 to Burj Khalifa/Dubai Mall station; Terminal 2 has no Metro station.
Day 2: Kite Beach and La Mer
Start at Kite Beach, a free public beach with a running track and views of Burj Al Arab. The sea is at its warmest from November to December. After lunch, take a short taxi north to La Mer for a second beach with cafes on the sand, and stay for sunset. Neither is on the Metro, so plan on taxis.
Day 3: Old Dubai on foot
In summer this is a morning-only walk; in winter you can do it all day. Wander the Al Fahidi Historical Neighbourhood, visit Al Shindagha Museum on the Creek, cross to Deira by abra (AED 1 per person, cash) and walk the Spice and Gold Souks. Finish with dinner on the waterfront at Al Seef. Al Fahidi Fort, the old Dubai Museum, has been closed for restoration since 2021 and had no confirmed reopening date as of September 2026.
Day 4: Hatta and the Hajar Mountains
Take the Hatta Express (route H02) from the Dubai Mall bus station: about 1.5 hours, AED 25 each way by nol card. By car, allow about 90 minutes. Spend the day kayaking on Hatta Dam, hiking or cycling from the Wadi Hub, and walking through the heritage area. It is noticeably cooler in the mountains in the late afternoon. Our Dubai to Hatta day trip guide covers what to book.
Day 5: Miracle Garden by day, Global Village by night
Both are inland in the Dubailand area, roughly 20 to 25 minutes apart by taxi. Go to Dubai Miracle Garden in the late morning or afternoon, rest, then head to Global Village for the evening, when the pavilions, food stalls and stage shows are busiest. On Fridays and Saturdays, expect queues for taxis at closing time.
Day 6: Beach morning, desert night
Winter is the season for an overnight desert camp: nights are cool enough to sleep outside and the stars are clear. Most operators collect you in the afternoon, so spend the morning at the hotel pool or beach. If you prefer your own bed, an evening safari returns around 9pm. Bring a warm layer either way.
Day 7: Dubai Marina and JBR
Back from the desert by mid-morning, rest, then take the Red Line and Dubai Tram to JBR for a last swim at the free public beach. Walk Dubai Marina Walk as the towers light up, or take an evening dhow cruise on the Marina.

Winter planning tips
- Book early for December. The weeks around Christmas, New Year and UAE National Day are the busiest of the year for hotels and desert camps.
- Pack one warm layer. A light jacket or fleece for evenings, boat trips, the desert and Hatta.
- Still use sunscreen. The winter sun is strong at midday on the beach and in the desert.
- Keep a flexible day. Winter rain is rare but can close wadis and cancel desert trips at short notice.
- Use the Metro for Downtown and the Marina. Beaches and Dubailand need taxis. Metro times and fares are in our Dubai Metro guide.

Frequently asked questions
Is winter a good time to spend a week in Dubai?
Yes. From November to March, average daytime highs at Dubai International Airport range from about 24 degrees Celsius in January to 31 degrees in November, so you can spend whole days outside. It is also when the seasonal outdoor attractions such as Global Village, Dubai Miracle Garden and the Hatta Wadi Hub are open, and when most of the city's big outdoor events take place.
Is the sea warm enough to swim in Dubai in winter?
For most people, yes. Average sea temperatures are around 28 degrees Celsius in November, 25 in December and about 22 to 23 from January to March. January and February feel fresh first thing in the morning, so swim from late morning to mid-afternoon.
What events are on in Dubai in winter 2026 to 2027?
Dubai Fitness Challenge runs from 31 October to 29 November 2026, with Dubai Ride on 1 November and Dubai Run on Sheikh Zayed Road on 22 November. The Emirates Dubai 7s is scheduled for 27 to 29 November 2026. UAE National Day is on 2 December, the Dubai Shopping Festival usually runs from December into January, and the Hero Dubai Desert Classic golf is provisionally set for 21 to 24 January 2027. Check official event sites for confirmed dates.
When does Global Village open for winter 2026 to 2027?
Season 31 opens on 14 October 2026 and runs until May 2027. Tickets are AED 25 Sunday to Thursday and AED 30 on Friday and Saturday, with free entry for children under three, visitors aged 65 and over, and People of Determination. Tuesdays are reserved for ladies and families, except on public holidays.
Do I need warm clothes for Dubai in winter?
Bring one warm layer. Days are warm, but January nights in the city average around 16 degrees Celsius, and it feels colder in the desert and in the Hajar Mountains at Hatta. A light jacket or fleece is enough for an overnight desert camp or an evening on the water.
Does Ramadan fall during winter in 2027?
Ramadan 2027 is expected to begin around 8 February 2027, depending on the moon sighting, so a February or early March trip will likely overlap it. Attractions stay open, many restaurants serve during the day, and evenings are lively, but hours change and eating or drinking in public during daylight should be done discreetly.
