Making the Most of 48 Hours

A Dubai weekend is all about smart sequencing. Skip early Friday mornings (the city sleeps in), lean into the iconic afternoon and evening experiences, and don't try to see everything.

This plan works whether you're flying in for the weekend or already based nearby. It clusters activities intelligently — no frantic cross-city dashing — and balances Dubai's two sides: glittering modern skylines and atmospheric old-town history.

Weekend Tip

Friday is the Muslim holy day. Malls, restaurants and tourist attractions are open, but Friday prayers (12–2pm) mean some smaller shops close briefly. Use this time for lunch. All major attractions run normal hours on Fridays.

Day 1 — Friday

Friday is Dubai's weekend. The city buzzes with a relaxed, celebratory energy — especially around brunch time.

AED 150–200 (book online, not via hotel)
9–10pm

Key Insight

Never book your desert safari through the hotel concierge — they add a 30–50% commission. Book directly on Viator, GetYourGuide, or the operator's own website. Rayna Tours, Platinum Heritage and Golden Sands all have strong reputations.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is 2 days enough for Dubai?
Two days is tight but absolutely workable for a Dubai weekend trip. Focus on the top experiences: Burj Khalifa, Old Dubai's souks and Al Fahidi, the Dubai Fountain, and an evening desert safari. You won't see everything, but you'll hit the highlights without exhaustion.
What is the Dubai Friday Brunch experience?
Friday brunch is a beloved Dubai institution — an all-you-can-eat and drink (soft or alcoholic) meal served from late morning to early afternoon at hotel restaurants across the city. Prices typically run AED 200–350 for soft drinks packages and AED 350–550 with alcohol. Popular venues book up weeks in advance, especially during peak season.
How much does a Dubai weekend trip cost?
A 2-day Dubai trip costs approximately AED 600–1,500 per person excluding accommodation, depending on whether you do Friday brunch, the Burj Khalifa, and a desert safari. Budget-minded travellers focusing on free experiences can keep it under AED 400.
When does the Dubai Fountain show run?
The Dubai Fountain runs every 30 minutes from 7:00pm on Monday to Thursday (last show around 11pm). On Fridays, shows start at 6:30pm and continue every 30 minutes. On Saturdays and Sundays, shows begin at 7pm. All shows are free to watch from the Burj Lake bridge or Dubai Mall viewing deck.
What should I wear in Dubai for a weekend visit?
Dubai is relaxed about clothing in tourist areas, malls and beaches. Cover shoulders and knees in traditional markets (Gold Souk, Spice Souk) and heritage areas. At the beach, normal swimwear is fine. For restaurants and Friday brunch at hotels, smart casual is appropriate. Avoid very short shorts or revealing tops in public transport or government buildings.
