The India Special Rule — and Who Else It Applies To

Indian Citizens: Visa on Arrival If You Hold Qualifying Documents

Indian citizens who hold one of the following documents qualify for a UAE visa on arrival for 14 days (fee: AED 100 payable at the airport):

  • Valid US Green Card (Permanent Resident Card)
  • Valid US multiple-entry visa
  • Valid UK visa (any category)
  • Valid EU Schengen visa

The visa or Green Card must be valid and unexpired at the time of UAE entry. The 14-day on-arrival visa can be extended via the UAE ICP app.

This Also Applies to Most Other Nationalities

The qualifying document rule (US/UK/EU/Canadian visa) is not exclusive to Indian citizens. Citizens of most countries that are not on the standard visa-on-arrival list — including Pakistan, Bangladesh, Nigeria, Sri Lanka, and others — may qualify for UAE visa on arrival if they hold a valid, unexpired visa from the US, UK, EU, or Canada. This is applied at the discretion of UAE immigration authorities.

  • Apply for your extension before your current visa expires — not after.
  • Each 30-day extension costs AED 600.
  • A maximum of two extensions is allowed per visit, giving a total stay of 90 days.
  • After 90 days, you must exit the UAE. Re-entry is allowed, but a new on-arrival stamp is at immigration's discretion.
