Dubai is one of the world's great family destinations, with world-class theme parks, indoor snow slopes, water parks and cultural experiences for every age from toddler to teenager.
Dubai has invested enormously in family-focused infrastructure. All major malls have nursing rooms, stroller access, dedicated children's play areas and prayer rooms with baby facilities. Child menus are standard everywhere.
The challenge in Dubai is not finding things to do with children — it is choosing between them. This guide breaks recommendations down by age group so you can target what will actually work for your kids, rather than spending money on something too young or too old for them.
Outdoor activities are for October through April only. From May to September, Dubai temperatures exceed 40 degrees C and outdoor activities become genuinely dangerous for children. In summer, stick to water parks, indoor theme parks and air-conditioned malls. Plan your family trip in the winter season for the best experience.
Plan all outdoor activities for October through April. Dubai summer heat (42-48 degrees C) is genuinely dangerous for children. Water parks and indoor parks work year-round in air-conditioning, but beaches, safaris and outdoor theme parks — October to April only.
All major attractions sell online tickets with priority entry. Legoland, KidZania, IMG Worlds and Aquaventure all have long walk-up queues on weekends. Book 2-3 days ahead especially for Friday and Saturday visits when Dubai families fill the parks.
All major malls have dedicated nursing rooms with changing tables, children's play areas and stroller-friendly facilities throughout. Dubai Mall, Mall of the Emirates and Mirdif City Centre are the best equipped for families with very young children.
Children's menus are standard across virtually all Dubai restaurants. International chains including Pizza Express, PF Chang's and TGI Friday's have familiar options for picky eaters. Fast food is widely available at lower price points for emergencies.
Careem and Uber can be booked in advance but child car seats are not guaranteed. Bring your own for safety. The metro has family carriages and is stroller-friendly throughout. Taxis from the street are the easiest option for short hops with a pram.
Even outside summer, Dubai sun is powerful. SPF 50 plus for children is essential at beaches and outdoor parks. Large reusable water bottles are important — dehydration in Dubai's dry heat is a real risk for active children. Bottled water costs AED 1-3 in shops.
