Family Planning
The honest answer depends entirely on the age of your children. The Burj Khalifa is genuinely spectacular and can be a thrilling experience for children who are old enough to appreciate height, panoramic views, and the sense of scale. For very young toddlers, however, the experience is largely wasted - they will not remember it, may find the lifts and glass floors frightening, and the cost adds up quickly for a large family.
Understanding the ticketing rules and age-appropriateness before you book will save you money and potential tears. Here is everything a family needs to know before visiting the world's tallest building.
Age-by-Age Breakdown
We have broken down the experience by age group to help you set realistic expectations and decide whether the investment is worthwhile for your family.
Old enough to fully understand and appreciate the record-breaking height. The facts (828 m, 163 floors, world's tallest) are genuinely exciting for older children. Photography and the interactive displays are engaging.
This age range tends to enjoy the experience but may be nervous near the glass edges. The speed of the lifts (10 m/s) is usually thrilling rather than scary. Book morning slots to avoid queues that test their patience.
Young children may find the lifts disorientating. Many cannot see over the barriers without being held. The glass floors can cause distress. Pays full price. Consider Dubai Frame instead at AED 50 - a more manageable glass floor experience.
Admitted completely free of charge. If you are already buying tickets for adults, there is no cost penalty for bringing a baby or toddler. They will not remember the visit but the family photos will be priceless.
Ticket Pricing
There is no family bundle ticket available at the time of writing. Each person aged 3 and above pays the full ticket price, which varies depending on time of day, booking method, and floor level. Planning your visit during non-peak slots and booking online in advance saves meaningful money for a family.

Practical Tips
Book tickets online at burjkhalifa.ae at least 24-48 hours in advance. Walk-up prices are significantly higher and popular slots sell out entirely on weekends and public holidays. Print or download your QR codes before arriving - the Wi-Fi signal inside the lower floors can be unreliable.
The entire visit from arrival to exit takes approximately 1.5 to 2 hours for a family including queuing, two lift rides, and time on the observation deck. Factor this into your day plan, especially if travelling with children who need regular meals or rest stops.
The lifts travel at 10 metres per second and reach the 124th floor in under a minute. Most children find this thrilling; a small number find the ear-pressure uncomfortable. If your child has ear sensitivity issues, chewing gum or swallowing during the ascent helps equalise pressure.
The observation deck has a glass floor section that many younger children refuse to stand on. Do not pressure reluctant children - the main deck views are equally spectacular without needing to step onto the glass. Hold hands and take it at the child's pace.
Better for Young Kids
If you are travelling with children under 6, the Dubai Frame at AED 50 per adult (AED 20 for children 3-12) delivers a remarkably similar glass-floor, high-altitude experience at a fraction of the cost. Located in Zabeel Park, the 150-metre-tall frame-shaped structure offers a 93-metre glass sky bridge that most children find genuinely thrilling.
The glass sky bridge at 150 metres is lower than the Burj Khalifa deck but children can see down through the floor far more dramatically because it is a narrower walkway. The price is AED 50 for adults and AED 20 for children, making it far more family-budget-friendly. Metro: Zabeel station.
After or instead of the Burj Khalifa, the free Dubai Fountain shows captivate all ages. Combined with KidZania inside Dubai Mall (AED 200-250 per child) or the Dubai Aquarium (AED 110-140), you have a full family day at prices that make more sense when travelling with multiple children.
