Completed in 2006, Palm Jumeirah is one of the most ambitious construction projects in history. The 5km-wide palm silhouette is visible from space and was created by dredging 94 million cubic metres of sand from the ocean floor.
The island is divided into the trunk (where Palm Tower and the monorail run), the crescent (the outer ring housing Atlantis and other hotels), and 16 fronds radiating from the trunk, each lined with private villas. The Pointe is the dining and entertainment hub at the very tip.
Visiting Palm Jumeirah is completely free. You can walk, take the monorail, take a taxi, or drive. The palm itself is just a neighbourhood, but an extraordinarily designed one, with world-class hotels, restaurants, and beaches.

A 1.5km stretch of public beach along the trunk of the Palm, facing the Dubai skyline. One of the best free beaches in Dubai with excellent views of the Ain Dubai observation wheel and Marina skyline. Beach clubs and cafes operate along the stretch with sun lounger rental from AED 100-200. Water sports rentals include jet skis (AED 200/30min), wakeboarding, and kayaking.
An outdoor waterfront dining and retail destination at the very tip of the Palm, directly facing Atlantis.
