Dubai's most beautiful shopping and dining destination — a recreated Arabian souk beside the Burj Al Arab, with waterways, traditional architecture, and restaurants with views of the world's most iconic hotel.
Souk Madinat Jumeirah is a large indoor-outdoor souk complex built in traditional Arabian style, forming part of the Madinat Jumeirah resort complex. Traditional wind-tower architecture, carved wooden details, and a network of waterways with wooden Abra boats create an atmosphere unique in Dubai.
The souk is most famous for its dining — multiple restaurants face Burj Al Arab across the water, providing some of the most dramatic restaurant views in the world. The view of the sail-shaped hotel at sunset from a Souk Madinat terrace is one of Dubai's great experiences.
Best time: Evening (from 6pm) when the Burj Al Arab lights up against the night sky. Book restaurants in advance for weekend evenings — the waterfront tables fill quickly. The souk itself is open daily 10am-11pm.
Yes — completely free to enter and browse. No admission charge. The waterway Abra rides within the Madinat resort complex are free for Madinat guests and may be available for souk visitors too. External taxis (AED 40-50 from elsewhere in Dubai) connect to the souk entrance.
Arabic oud and perfumes (AED 100-500+), pashminas and scarves (AED 50-200), traditional handicrafts, gold and silver jewellery, local honey and spices, traditional dress (kandura/abaya), and UAE souvenirs. More upscale than the old Deira souks — prices reflect the resort setting.
Bus route 8 from Mall of Emirates Metro station — stop near Jumeirah area. Taxi from Downtown Dubai: AED 35-50, 25-30 minutes. Free parking for souk visitors in the Madinat Jumeirah car park (validate with any souk purchase or restaurant meal). Taxi from JBR: AED 20-30.
Yes — this is one of the best free Burj Al Arab viewing spots in Dubai. The hotel stands directly across the water from the souk's waterfront area. Restaurants have outdoor terraces facing the Burj. The view is particularly magnificent at sunset and after dark when the hotel is illuminated.
Pai Thai (over-water Thai restaurant, AED 150-300pp), Zengo (Pan-Asian, AED 120-250pp), La Parrilla (Argentinian steakhouse, AED 200-400pp), and numerous more casual options from AED 80pp. Most have Burj Al Arab views — book ahead for outdoor terrace tables on weekends.
