Best American restaurants in Dubai: the short answer
For destination American food in Dubai, most travellers will be happiest with four names: Salt for a smash burger by the beach, Black Tap Craft Burgers & Shakes for New York-style burgers and over-the-top shakes at The Dubai Mall, CLAW BBQ for Southern-style smoked meats and crab, and Pickl for a fast, well-made burger between sightseeing stops. Each was listed as operating in 2026 food guides. Opening hours, branches and menus change, so check the venue's own website or app before you set off.
This page is a shortlist of independent and destination venues chosen against clear criteria. If you just want to know which US fast-food and casual-dining brands have branches in Dubai, see our separate guide to American chain restaurants in Dubai.
How we chose
- Still operating: named only if current 2026 listings show the restaurant trading in Dubai.
- Worth a detour: a place you would plan a meal around, not a food-court default.
- Clearly American in style: burgers, smoked barbecue, diner classics or shakes as the core menu.
- Useful for visitors: reachable from areas tourists already spend time in.

The restaurants in more detail
Salt: best for a casual burger by the sea
Salt started as a food truck and helped kick off Dubai's homegrown burger scene. The menu is deliberately short: small sliders, fries and soft-serve. It suits a late afternoon at the beach rather than a long sit-down dinner, and seating is informal.
Black Tap: best for families and a treat
Black Tap is a New York burger bar best known for CrazyShakes, huge milkshakes topped with cake, sweets and cotton candy. The Dubai Mall branch fits neatly around a visit to the Burj Khalifa or the fountains. Expect a queue at busy times, especially evenings and weekends (Saturday and Sunday in the UAE).
CLAW BBQ: best for barbecue and a group meal
CLAW BBQ brings Southern US flavours to Dubai: smoked brisket and ribs, fried chicken and crab or shrimp served by the bucket. It is loud, messy and good for groups. Portions are large, so share plates rather than ordering one main each.
Pickl: best for a fast, well-made burger
Pickl is a local brand that turns out smash burgers and fried chicken sandwiches quickly. It is a sensible choice when you want something better than a global chain without a full restaurant meal.

Ask about American food on your routeSteakhouses and fine dining
If your idea of American food is a proper steak dinner, you are better served by a dedicated steakhouse than a burger bar. We cover the options, including cuts and dress codes, in our guide to steakhouses in Dubai, and higher-end picks in fine dining in Dubai.
What to know before you go
- Halal and pork: most restaurants in Dubai serve halal meat, and "bacon" is usually beef or turkey. Pork appears only at some licensed venues and is labelled. More detail in our halal food guide.
- Prices: menus change often and these venues do not publish fixed price lists we could verify, so check the current menu online. Burger bars are generally cheaper than sit-down BBQ restaurants.
- Booking: burger places are mostly walk-in; for a group at a BBQ restaurant on a weekend evening, reserve ahead.
- Delivery: most of these brands are on the main delivery apps if you would rather eat at your hotel. See food delivery in Dubai.
- Service charge: check your bill before tipping, as some restaurants already add one.
