Frequently Asked Questions

Should I visit Dubai or Abu Dhabi first?

Most visitors start in Dubai (more international flights, larger airport) and travel to Abu Dhabi. Either order works well. If flying into Abu Dhabi International, start there then take the bus (AED 25) or taxi to Dubai.

How to travel between Dubai and Abu Dhabi?

Public bus from Al Ghubaiba station (Dubai) costs AED 25 and takes about 2 hours — the cheapest option. Taxi or Careem is AED 250-350 and takes 90 minutes. Drive yourself via E11 highway in 90 minutes with free parking in Abu Dhabi.

How long should I spend in each city?

Dubai: 2-3 nights minimum. Abu Dhabi: 1-2 nights, or a long 12-hour day trip from Dubai. For a 5-day trip: 3 nights Dubai + 2 nights Abu Dhabi is ideal. The Grand Mosque and Louvre alone are worth staying overnight.

Is the Abu Dhabi Grand Mosque free?

Yes — Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque is completely free to enter. Guided tours (also free) run daily at 10am and 2pm (not Friday morning). Women must wear an abaya — provided free at the entrance. Dress code is modestly applied for all visitors.

Is it easy to combine Dubai and Abu Dhabi?

Very easy — 130km apart, excellent road connection. Most visitors base themselves in Dubai (cheaper accommodation, more flights) and visit Abu Dhabi for 1-2 days. The public bus is surprisingly comfortable and an easy way to travel.
