The best free things to do on Palm Jumeirah are walking the Boardwalk on the crescent, spending a sunset at Palm West Beach, looking at Atlantis The Palm from the outside and cooling off in Palm Jumeirah Mall. The list is short: most of the island is hotels, private homes and paid attractions, and getting there usually costs something.

The Boardwalk is the island's main free activity. It runs for about 11 km along the crescent, with the lagoon on one side and views back across the water towards the Dubai Marina towers. There is no entry fee and it is open to the public.
You do not need to walk all of it. Most visitors pick a stretch of 2 to 4 km, walk out and back, and stop at a kiosk or cafe for a drink. Early mornings are quieter and cooler; evenings are busier with joggers and families, and the skyline lights up after dark.
Realistic tip: shade is limited and there are long stretches between cafes. Carry water, and from June to September walk only at sunrise or after sunset, when daytime temperatures that regularly pass 40°C have eased. Our Dubai weather by month guide shows when walking is comfortable.
Palm West Beach is the island's best-known public beach area, on the western side of the trunk. There is no fee to walk on to the beach, and it faces west, so it is a good place for sunset. The Palm Monorail operator lists it as about 3 minutes' walk from Al Ittihad Park station, with venues open from 08:00 to midnight.
The beach is lined with restaurants, bars and beach clubs. Those are paid, and some charge for sunbeds or have minimum spends, but you can walk the promenade and sit on the open sand without buying anything. Swim only in areas marked for swimming and follow any flags or lifeguard instructions.
