Nigerian citizens can get a UAE visa again, but only by applying in advance, and they face tighter checks than most nationalities. The UAE suspended visas for Nigerians in October 2022 and resumed issuing them on 15 July 2024, with an added identity and travel-history verification step. There is no visa on arrival for an ordinary Nigerian passport. Everything below is as of September 2026; check with your airline or a licensed agent before paying, because rules for Nigerian applicants have changed several times.

Which UAE visa Nigerian passport holders can apply for

The standard choice is a pre-approved tourist visa, issued electronically. Travelling with family or visiting a UAE resident relative can make approval easier, because the reported 2025 rules focus on young adults travelling alone.

Frequently asked questions

Can Nigerians get a UAE visa in 2026?
Yes. The UAE resumed issuing visas to Nigerian passport holders on 15 July 2024 after a suspension that began in October 2022. Applications go through a UAE airline, licensed agent, hotel or resident sponsor, and extra verification and eligibility checks apply.
Do Nigerians get a UAE visa on arrival?
No. Ordinary Nigerian passport holders are not eligible for visa on arrival or visa-free entry. You need an approved visa before you fly.
Are there age limits for Nigerian applicants?
In July 2025 Nigerian travel agents reported a notice saying Nigerians aged 18 to 45 travelling alone would not be issued tourist visas, and that applicants over 45 need six months of bank statements with a USD 10,000 monthly balance. These conditions were not published on an official UAE government site, so ask your airline or agent for the rules applied to your application.
Can Nigerians get a UAE transit visa?
Reports from July 2025 say transit visa applications are no longer processed for Nigerian nationals. If you are connecting through Dubai or Abu Dhabi, stay airside and check with your airline before booking.
How much is a UAE tourist visa for Nigerians?
The GDRFA Dubai government fee is AED 200 for a 30-day tourist visa and AED 300 for a 60-day visa, plus 5% VAT, as of September 2026. Agents and airlines add service charges and may ask for a refundable deposit, so get an itemised quote.
What happens if I overstay?
The UAE overstay fine is AED 50 per day as of September 2026. Overstaying also makes future applications harder, which matters more for Nigerian passport holders given the extra scrutiny.
