JBR or the Marina side: which part to stay in

Dubai Marina has two distinct halves for visitors. JBR (Jumeirah Beach Residence) runs along the sea, with hotels on or next to the public beach and The Walk behind them. The Marina side wraps around the canal, with towers, serviced apartments and business hotels closer to Sheikh Zayed Road and the Metro.

Metro and Tram access from Dubai Marina hotels

Two Red Line stations serve the district: Sobha Realty (formerly Dubai Marina station) and DMCC (formerly Jumeirah Lakes Towers). Both connect by footbridge to the Dubai Tram, which runs past Dubai Marina Mall, Marina Towers and JBR and links to the Palm Monorail. When comparing hotels, check the walking distance to the nearest tram stop or Metro station, not just "Dubai Marina" in the address. Details on fares and cards are in our Dubai Metro guide.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is it better to stay in JBR or the Marina side?

Stay at JBR if beach access is the priority: the hotels sit on or beside the sand. Stay on the Marina side if you want quicker Metro access to the rest of Dubai and more choice of restaurants on the water.

Which Metro station is closest to Dubai Marina hotels?

Sobha Realty (formerly Dubai Marina) and DMCC (formerly Jumeirah Lakes Towers) on the Red Line. Hotels near Sheikh Zayed Road are a short walk away; beach hotels at JBR usually need a tram ride or a longer walk.

Are apartments or hotels better in Dubai Marina?

Apartments suit families, groups and longer stays because you get a kitchen and more space. Hotels suit short stays and travellers who want daily housekeeping, a pool and beach facilities. Book holiday homes only through licensed operators.

Is Dubai Marina a good base for first-time visitors?

It works if you want beach time and evenings out. The main sights in Downtown and Old Dubai are a Metro ride away, so first-timers focused on those may prefer to stay closer to them.

When is Dubai Marina accommodation most expensive?

Prices usually peak from November to March and around major holidays and events. Summer is generally cheaper, though daytime heat limits time outdoors.
