Frequently Asked Questions

How to spend a day in Old Dubai?

Best plan: 9am Al Fahidi free, 10:30am Dubai Museum AED 3, 11:30am Abra AED 1, noon Spice Souk, 1pm Gold Souk, 2pm local lunch AED 20-40, 4pm textile souk and Heritage House free, 6pm Al Seef waterfront for sunset dinner. Total activities cost under AED 10 — just add food.

Is Old Dubai safe to visit?

Yes — very safe. Bur Dubai and Deira are among the most densely populated and commercially active areas of Dubai. Heavy foot traffic throughout the day and well into the evening. Standard city precautions apply — keep valuables close in crowded souk areas.

What is the best time to visit Old Dubai?

9am-noon for cool morning temperatures and the freshest souk stalls. October-April for comfortable weather. Evenings (after 6pm) are also magical — the Creek reflects the old dhow lights and the souks stay open until 10pm. Avoid Friday mornings (souks close for prayers).

How to get to Old Dubai by Metro?

For Bur Dubai (Al Fahidi, Dubai Museum): Green Line to Al Ghubaiba station (5-10 minute walk). For Deira (souks): take the AED 1 Abra from Bur Dubai across the Creek — faster and more scenic than Metro for the souk side. Alternatively, Green Line to BurJuman then taxi AED 10.
