Plan my luxury Dubai trip

Luxury travel in Dubai works best when you plan three things early: your travel dates (November to March is the most comfortable season and the most expensive), your base (beach resort or city-centre hotel), and a short list of reservations that sell out, such as top tasting menus and private experiences. Everything else, from transfers to spa bookings, can usually be arranged through your hotel once you arrive.

This page is the planning overview. For specific prices on helicopters, yachts and fine dining, see our Dubai luxury experiences price guide. For hotel-by-hotel picks, see our luxury hotels in Dubai page.

Check travel advice before you book

As of 30 September 2026, several governments have raised their warnings for the UAE:

A drone strike near Dubai International Airport on 16 March 2026 stopped flights for more than seven hours. For a high-value trip, buy flexible fares, choose refundable hotel rates where possible, and confirm your travel insurance covers disruption linked to official advisories. Our travel insurance guide for Dubai covers what to check.

When to go for a luxury trip

PeriodWhat luxury travel looks likeBooking pressure
November to MarchBeach clubs, terraces, desert dinners and yacht days are comfortableHighest, especially Christmas and New Year
April, May, OctoberWarm; outdoor plans move to mornings and eveningsModerate
June to SeptemberVery hot; spas, pools, indoor dining and shopping take overLowest; hotel offers are common

The UAE weekend is Saturday and Sunday, so popular brunches and beach clubs are busiest then. See our month-by-month timing guide for weather detail.

Choosing your base

Where you stay shapes the whole trip more than any single experience.

Many travellers split the stay: two or three nights in Downtown, then a beach resort. If you are torn between two big Palm resorts, our Atlantis vs One&Only comparison sets them side by side.

What to reserve first

  1. Hotel: lock in your room type and any transfer package. Ask whether breakfast, lounge access or spa credit is included, because packages vary.
  2. Headline restaurants: Dubai's 2025 Michelin selection gave three stars to FZN by Björn Frantzén and Trèsind Studio. Tables at places like these go quickly; check the current Michelin Guide Dubai listing before you book.
  3. Private experiences: helicopter flights, private yachts and private desert dinners have limited slots. Book these once flights are fixed.
  4. Spa time: weekend and evening slots fill first at resort spas.

Dining at height is a classic Dubai booking: At.mosphere sits on level 122 of Burj Khalifa, about 442 metres up, and requires a reservation separate from observation deck tickets.

Budgeting a luxury trip

Costs vary widely by season and hotel, so we avoid quoting fixed nightly rates here. As a guide to how the money is usually split:

Getting around in comfort

Most luxury hotels offer airport transfers for a fee. In the city, taxis and ride-hailing apps are reliable, and a chauffeur by the day suits long days with several stops or a trip to Abu Dhabi. If you want to take in luxury options outside Dubai, such as desert resorts and Abu Dhabi's cultural district, see our guide to UAE luxury experiences beyond Dubai.

What is closed or changed

Also keep your visa dates in mind: overstaying in the UAE costs AED 50 per day.

Frequently asked questions

When is the best time for a luxury trip to Dubai?

November to March is the most comfortable period for beach clubs, desert dinners and outdoor terraces, and it is also when hotel rates and demand peak. June to September is very hot, so luxury travel shifts indoors to spas, hotel pools and restaurants, and rates are usually lower.

How far ahead should I book a luxury Dubai trip?

For stays over Christmas, New Year and major events, book your hotel and the most in-demand restaurants several months ahead. For the rest of the year, a few weeks is usually enough, but top tasting-menu restaurants can still fill up, so reserve those as soon as your dates are fixed.

Is Dubai safe for luxury travel right now?

As of September 2026, the US State Department rates the UAE at Level 3 (Reconsider Travel), Canada advises avoiding non-essential travel, and the UK FCDO warns of possible Iranian strikes in the region. A drone strike near Dubai International halted flights for more than seven hours in March 2026. Read your government's current advice and check your insurance before booking.

Do I need a private driver in Dubai?

Not always. Taxis, limousine-class cabs and ride-hailing apps cover most luxury trips. A chauffeur by the day makes sense if you plan several stops, a day trip to Abu Dhabi or late dinners across the city. Many five-star hotels can arrange one through the concierge.

What should I wear to fine-dining restaurants in Dubai?

Most high-end restaurants ask for smart or smart casual dress. Some venues refuse sportswear, beachwear or flip-flops. Cover shoulders and knees in malls, souks and religious sites. Check each restaurant's dress code when you book.
